Top Fashion Tips

If you want to dress to impress, you’re going to need to know how. There are a number of points to consider which will help you to appear effortlessly stylish. Perfectly coiffured hair, co-ordinated accessories and shiny new shoes are all ideal finishing touches but you need to think about your look as a whole. Here are some things to consider when planning out your wardrobe:

  • Choose fashions that will suit you. Not everything is made for everybody. For example, shorter people might struggle to pull off tunic tops or ankle-strap heels, pear-shaped women don’t necessarily suit the skinny jeans look and men wanting to cover up a slight beer belly will draw attention to it instead by wearing bold patterned shirts.
  • The same applies to hair as well. Work with what you’ve already got. For example, if you have a beard and it’s non-negotiable, consider styles which will complement your facial hair. More than anything else, think about your face shape, and if you’re choosing a new hair colour, consider your natural complexion.
  • Take advice from the experts. Your hairdresser will be able to advise you on what will suit you the most. If you need fashion advice, many stores now offer a personal shopper service.
  • Think about what you want to accentuate rather than what you want to hide. This will help you to develop a positive attitude towards your appearance but does also have the added bonus of drawing attention away from features you may be less secure about. If you have long legs, choose trousers or skirts to show them off or if you have a slim figure, wear skinny jeans or a bodycon dress to complement it.
  • Think vintage. You can often find some excellent fashion buys in charity shops or at car boot sales. Shoes which are practically unworn and otherwise expensive clothes like coats and suits aren’t uncommon to come across.
  • Try to create a capsule wardrobe. In other words, carefully select a few items which can be worn interchangeably with each other to save you space and money. Plain-coloured loose camisoles are a versatile favourite for this – they can be worn with trousers or tucked into a patterned skirt. Floaty dresses are also a good option as they can be layered up underneath jumpers or jackets in winter and worn alone with a hat, sunglasses and summery handbag in warmer months. For men, a few staple t-shirts and jumpers which will go with jeans, chinos and shorts are endlessly useful to have.
  • Think about the outfit as a whole. Don’t just buy an item of clothing because you’re attracted to it in the shop – be practical. Do you have anything else which you can wear it with?
  • Keep costs down with budget accessories. If your handbag is an attractive colour and goes with your outfit or if your sunglasses suit your face shape people will notice the overall effect rather than looking at the brand.
  • We know that putting a trendy outfit together can be a difficult task. It can take time to research the latest styles and know what works well together, but whilst many people focus on outerwear, underwear can be just as important. Lingerie trends are constantly changing and evolving and whether you’re looking for plus size lingerie or a selection of lace bras, it’s always best to take a look at the latest styles across the globe. A little bit of research can go a long way when crafting the perfect outfit.
